Hi, I’m Annasse Mahboub
Journalism student at Drake University, Managing Director and Director of Product at ByteTravel, and a lifelong lover of technology.
Who I Am
My name is Annasse Mahboub, and I’m from Calella de Palafrugell, a small seaside town on Spain’s Costa Brava, not far from Barcelona. Growing up beside the Mediterranean taught me to value simple things: good company, fresh air, and a steady pace of effort. Those values still guide me whether I am learning something new, working with a team, or helping a friend solve a problem.
Outside of school and work, my three great passions are athletics, golf, and spending time with the people I love. Athletics taught me discipline and consistency: progress comes from showing up and training even on the days when motivation is low. Golf taught me patience and focus, and how to stay calm and honest with myself after a bad shot. Spending time with family and friends reminds me why I work hard in the first place, and it keeps me grounded and happy. Together, these three things keep me balanced and make me a better student and colleague.
Who I Am as a Student
I am currently studying Journalism at Drake University. Journalism has taught me to ask good questions, check my facts, listen carefully, and explain complicated ideas in a clear and honest way. These skills matter in every career, and I believe they matter even more in a world where information moves faster than ever.
I am also passionate about technology. I love understanding how new tools are built, how they change the way people live and travel, and how they can be explained so that everyone understands them. For me, journalism and technology fit together naturally: both start with curiosity about people and both reward those who communicate clearly.
As a student, I take pride in being organized, reliable, and open to feedback. I plan my work ahead of time, I take part in discussions, and I am never afraid to ask for help when I need it. Balancing my studies with a leadership role in a growing company has taught me how to manage my time, set priorities, and deliver on my commitments.

Who I Am as a Professional
Alongside my studies, I serve as Managing Director and Director of Product at ByteTravel, a Barcelona-based travel technology company founded in 2021. ByteTravel creates products that make travel easier for leisure and business travelers, including Roamic for global eSIM connectivity, VIPLounges for airport lounge access, Globely for international travel insurance, and Visagov for online visas and travel authorizations. We offer these solutions to travel agencies, airlines, and other tourism businesses around the world.
This role has taught me how to lead a team, make decisions with limited information, and turn customer needs into products that people actually use. It has also shown me how important it is to communicate clearly with partners, colleagues, and users, which is exactly where my journalism training makes a difference.
As a future employee or collaborator, I bring responsibility, curiosity, and a strong work ethic. I treat deadlines as promises, I welcome constructive feedback, and I stay calm when plans change. In the coming years, I want to keep building technology products that improve people’s lives while using my storytelling skills to explain them with honesty and clarity.
